Captions for the photographs are being added. The files in the Strate Library have limited captioning as it seems that Ruth Hollick did not record a lot of details alongside many of her negatives.

Melbourne circa 1950
Sometime around 1949/ 1950, Ruth Hollick made a series of photographs of Melbourne buildings and infrastructure. The ones below are reproduced from the collection on the State Library of Victoria site.
The style was very much as if she had been commissioned for an official government promotional campaign and/or book. According to other sources, Ruth Hollick travelled to the UK in 1950 and gave up commercial photography around the same time. Was this photography of Melbourne a last job? and were they published in a booklet or book - possibly without credit being given?
