These notes from the original catalogue

Due to limitations of space biographical information on the artists is minimal. Further details are available on request Extensive biographies on Micky Allan, Mike Brown, Fiona Hall, Marion Hardman, Douglas Holleley, Bill Henson (referred to in text), Bea Maddock, Robert Owen, Kevin Mortenson, Mike Parr and Sally Robinson are included in the Australian Perspecta 1981 exhibition catalogue published by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, 1981.   Technical details of the various photographic processes included in the exhibition may be found in reference works such as Arnold Gassan's Handbook for Contemporary Photography (3rd ed.) 1974, Light Impressions, Rochester New York.

The term silver gelatin refers to standard black and white photographs. Dimensions of the image area are given in centimetres, height precedes width. Dates of photographs indicate the year of the negative rather than the specific print, except in cases of collages combining existing negatives or prints, which are dated for the year of making of the work.
